Comfortably Numb Lyrics & DescriptionDescriptionPink Floyd Comfortably Numb is a song from the album The Wall by Pink Floyd, with music by David Gilmour and words by Roger Waters. Personally, Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb is many fans favourite song and is definitely my favourite. I just love the soothing guitar solos on this song played by David Gilmour which I must say I can play quite good. You can too! Just go here I would like to learn to play this on my guitar Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb was initially thought of by David Gilmour . What happened was the demo was recorded by David Gilmour while recording a solo album in the South of France Hear this now. He created the essence of the song by singing out the rhythm and feel of the song with a high strung guitar. He then later brought it to "The Wall" sessions, where Roger Waters wrote lyrics to it in which the band was not really too keen on and Roger was asked to come up with new lyrics. You can listen to this second 'development' version of Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb What is 'Comfortably Numb' about? The song's lyrics refer to The Wall's character Pink, arguably Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd's former leader who is a burned out and drugged rock star who has passed out in his hotel room, being drugged to enable him to perform. The verses, sung by Waters, are the words of the doctor treating Pink, while the chorus, sung by Gilmour, is Pink's vision and thoughts. Waters and Gilmour had many disagreements about the song. However, after finally coming up with decisions they both decided that Roger will open the song singing one of his two verses and Gilmour to sing the choruses (Gilmour preferred a more grungy approach to the verses and this is how the song was played on Pink Floyd's tours after Waters left the band). David Gilmour plays two amazing guitar solos on Comfortably Numb!David Gilmour plays two cool guitars solos, the first is quite small and the second is longer but both are crazily impressive!!! The final solo, is one of Gilmour's best, an absolute spine tingling version which is an extended solo can be heard on the live album P-U-L-S-E (1994) which is simply stunning!!!. David Gilmour had pieced together numerous small bluesy solos for Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb to make up one complete big solo. Also, I heard that Gilmour played many small riffs, he then noted them and picked out the ones that he thought were the best riffs.
