The
Pink Floyd Money tab
solo consists of three
parts and contains
contrasts which makes
it very much a lively
solo. The Pink Floyd
Money tab is three
choruses of 24-bar
blues played in B
minor.
The hardest skill
about playing this
solo would be the
speed and how long
to hold particular
notes and the timing
of the bends. The
notes are quite simple
but it requires good
tone from your own
fingers but the best
thing for this is
time and practice
and naturally you
will improve.
David
Gilmour used a Fender
Strat in the first
part of the solo.
The third and final
parts of the Money
solo was played using
a Lewis 24 fret guitar
which allowed Gilmour
to reach the very
high frets that are
not contained on a
Fender Stratocaster.
This
Solo contains a high
pitched sound with
distortion. And the
tone on each of the
three parts are different.
The first part uses
delay and a high pitched
tone. The following
parts comes away from
the high pitch and
delay and gives a
very dry sound. You
can mix and match
these tones between
your amp and effects
processor if you have
one.

Ok
lets kick off....This
great Pink Floyd
Money guitar solo
starts just after
the saxophone solo
about 3:05 into
the song. I will
now help you with
playing the solo
by explaining the
tabbed diagrams
to make it easier
where need be.

Start
off the solo with
a bend on the
9th fret and then
release by playing
a note on the
7th fret with
some vibrato,
all on the 3rd
string. Then perform
a bend on the
10th fret, 2nd
string. This is
a longer bend
so hold it for
around 2 seconds.
Next, perform
the same two starting
notes again. The
solo then heads
slightly higher
up the fret board.
So start this
off by a slide
up to the 12th
fret.

After
playing around
the 12th fret
area, the solo
goes back to the
7th and 9th position
playing the same
notes and techniques
as before. When
you get to the
10th fret play
this twice before
hammering on the
12th fret, 2nd
string. Then play
the 10th fret,
1st string, hit
the 12th fret
twice on the same
string and then
bend the string
up a full tone-bend
and release the
string down again.

The
solo carries on
around the 12 fret.
Play the note on
the 12th fret, 2nd
string twice
and then hit the
10th fret, 1st string.
After perform the
same bend at the
12th fret as before
with a full tone-bend....
Arriving at the
10th fret, 2nd string,
perform a quarter
bend here. This
is a very small
bend and perform
it delicately with
your index finger
by slightly pushing
the string down.
